What does this course involve?
This course involves developing the skills required to work in residential facilities and/or community agencies and day centres under professional supervision within defined organisation guidelines or as sole practitioners. These workers:
- Assist with the design, implementation and evaluation of health and leisure activities and programs for clients in one or more sector areas
- May be responsible for other workers
Certificate IV in Leisure and Health contains 16 units of competency. Eleven units are core, five units are elective. To obtain this qualification you must successfully complete all 16 units.
What are the entry requirements for this course?
This course has no pre-requisites, however to undertake this course at Brite you will need to successfully complete a pre-training review, be currently working in the industry in an appropriate job role or be prepared to undertake a minimum 150 hours practical placement. Police record checks will be required for students undertaking practical placements.
If undertaking this course as a trainee you will need to be working a minimum of 13 hours per week.

Once you have finished your course you may wish to consider enrolling in other community services qualifications such as Certificate IV in Aged Care or Certificate IV in Disability. You may also wish to consider further studies in diversional therapy.
How long is the course?
Certificate IV in Leisure and Health usually takes up to 12 months to complete and is delivered via a fortnightly off-the-job training timetable.

Will my previous experience or study count?
Yes, Brite Institute mutually recognises qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other RTOs. This means you will be granted Credit Transfer (CT) for units from this certificate that have been successfully achieved through another RTO. You will also have the opportunity to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This takes into account the knowledge and skills you have already gained through previous education, formal or informal training, paid or unpaid work.
