About Us
In 1971, a group of parents identified the need for a workplace for people with disabilities in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Funds were raised and in 1976 Brite commenced operations as a Community Business Service. Brite is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors.
Also known as The Victorian Vocational Rehabilitation Association (V.V.R.A) and Brite Industries, Brite now operate three divisions over two sites located at Broadmeadows and Northcote.
An organisation such as Brite has many aspects interacting to create a successful Australian Disability Enterprise and Registered Training Organisation (RTO), delivering quality service to our customers.
A key focus at Brite is ensuring a pleasant and supportive learning environment. Identification and encouragement of individual goals and talents, continuous improvement to our systems and a culture of customer service work together to meet constant challenges of cost increases, customer demands and adherence to the Disability Services Standards.
The Broadmeadows site has an integrated approach, employing over 140 people with disabilities, 40 vocationally disadvantaged employees and 30 staff, providing supported employment within Brite Pak and Brite Plants. Brite is audited annually to ensure Certification to the Disability Employment Services Standards. Brite Plants is nationally accredited through the Nursery Industry Accreditation Scheme Australia (NIASA). In addition to supported employment, Brite also seek funding for specialist programs such as one-on-one Supported Work Experience for school leavers, a Wellness Program targeting health and hygiene and a Community Indigenous & Native Plants scheme.
